Western Union introduces new online offering

Lagos - Global payment service company, Western Union, has launched an online service in the country.

It would enable fund receiver to personally redirect their money to their bank accounts,

The service according to the company is available through its local website www.westernunion.ng.

The new website specifically allows the consumer to go online, log onto the website and direct funds they are about to receive to their personal account with any of the specified banks.

The participating banks on the new platform includes Guaranty Trust Bank, Skye Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank and Wema Bank.

Speaking about the new innovation, Aida Diarra, Regional Vice President for Africa at Western Union said: “We are happy to announce that Western Union services in Nigeria are continuing to evolve in keeping with the changing needs of consumers. Additionally, by pioneering a new digital channel through our website, Western Union is supporting the Central Bank of Nigeria’s objective of providing modern and efficient payment systems for consumers in Nigeria”.

Diarra said Western Union service offerings deliver complementary digital and retail capabilities and address evolving consumer preferences for international money transfers.

Khalid Fellahi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Western Union Digital, said the company was growing its network and increasing consumer access to its services worldwide

“The launch supports our global retail Agent network, and is part of Western Union’s multi-channel consumer experience, which is a differentiator in today’s money transfer marketplace,” he said.
