Lokoja - Former Kogi State governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the inconclusive Saturday's governorship election, Abubakar Audu is dead, reports Sahara Reporters.
He died of undisclosed medical reasons shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the elections inconclusive.
Although, INEC had declared the election inconclusive, Audu was poised to be declared winner eventually.
After the 21 local councils’ election results were collated on Sunday, Audu, was leading while the incumbent Governor, Captain Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed by a margin less than the number of cancelled votes.
Audu was born on October 24, 1947.
His remains will be buried on Monday in his hometown in Ofu Local government.
