New management, kit for Abia Warriors

20 November 2013, 11:50

Lagos - Newly promoted side Abia Warriors have appointed credible patrons who will manage the running of the club in the Glo Nigerian Premier League.

The Umuahia outfit is seeking to make a solid impact when the NPL new season resumes.

In a statement issued in Umuahia, the media officer of the Club Igwe Onuoha said the patrons will be formally invested on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

The occasion, in which Abia State Sports loving Governor and Chief financier of the club Theodore Orji will be the special guest of honour, will be used to unveil the club’s website, official jersey, official logo and programmes of the club for the 2013/2014 Premier League Season.

Abia Warriors FC got promoted to the top flight after placing first in Group B of the Nigeria National league last season ahead of Crown FC of Ogbomosho who also got promoted to the Premier League.

The Warriors, Crown FC and Giwa Fc of Jos as well as Taraba Utd of Jalingo engaged in a Super Four contest to determine the authentic champions of the National League and Abia Warriors only lost on penalties to Giwa FC in the final decided at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja.

According to Onuoha, the patrons were chosen as a result of their proven track records as philanthropists, socialites and sports enthusiasts in recent years.
