Akpala returning to Belgium

29 June 2015, 17:41

Lagos - Former Super Eagles forward Joseph Akpala is rumored to be on the list of two top division teams in Belgium’s wish-list, as the 28 year old forward bids to resurrect his European career in the country it all started.

Although he still has a year left on his contract with relegated Turkish outfit Karabukspor, the club might be willing to sell base on their demotion, as they need to cut costs ahead of their campaign in the second division in Turkey.

Akpala was reportedly on his way to KV Oostende but reports this morning in Belgium suggested Sint Truiden are also eyeing the ex Club Brugge man, who scored 44 goals when he played in Belgium from 2008-2013 before his move to Werder Bremen in Germany.

He has however been unfortunate with injuries which has limited his performances in the last four years and last season in Turkey, he only scored four times in 25 games in the Turkish top flight league.
