Cape Town - Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu has
likened the ongoing African Nations Championship to the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup
played in the United Arab Emirates.
Alampasu won the golden gloves award at the end of the FIFA
tournament, and is among the three goalkeepers at the 2014 CHAN.
Alampasu said the loss against Mali jolted the Eagles to
reality and there will be no mistakes until the cup is won.
“The same thing happened to us at the U17 level when we all
thought Sweden was a walk-over but when they showed us in our first game”. He said
in a statement.
“It became a lesson and we did not take our legs off the
pedal again until we won the championship in the United Arab Emirates, it’s
about to happen here again”.
Nigeria will play Morocco in one of the CHAN quarterfinal
games on Saturday.
