Babayaro Defends Enaholo

01 June 2015, 21:11

Lagos - Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro has leaped to the defence of under fire Under-20 goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo.

Enaholo has being roundly criticized for his poor ball handling that lead to Nigeria conceding two second half goals, that helped Brazil beat Nigeria 2-4.

"Goalkeepers are always a soft target, its unfortunate it has to happen to him, such a good goalkeeper but the criticism is unfair" He told News24.

"The young man pulled off some top class saves prior to that error, but nobody is talking about that, look at the manner the goals were scored? Yes he was at fault but some factors lead to it.

"For instance the third goal took a slight deflection that caught him flat footed, the last goal seems to me like he was in a hurry to release the ball without gathering it.

"These are normal errors associated with young goalkeepers, all he needs now is support and encouragement and not criticism".
