Brazil coach rues missed opportunities against Golden Eaglets

03 November 2015, 11:17

Santiago - Brazil coach Carlos Amadeu has rued his side's lack of efficiency in attack in the aftermath of the 3-0 loss to Nigeria at the FIFA U17 World Cup.

Indeed, the South Americans had decent chances to take the lead through Rogerio and Evander before Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, then Michael and Anumudu both scored in the space of four minutes, which ended the game as a contest.

''We knew it was important for us to make the most of our opportunities, especially if we dominated the game at some point, but we didn't.'' Carlos Amadeu admitted.

''Their goals were scored in only five minutes because of specific chances, not because we were not balanced.

''We would like to have put Nigeria behind on the scoreboard, but we failed to score. For these kids, everything that has happened here is part of their learning process.''

Sunday night's game at the Estadio SausalitoVina Del Mar was the first time Nigeria faced their Brazilian counterparts in a competitive fixture at Under 17 level.
