Chrisantus eyes top scorer award in Greece

14 August 2015, 18:04

Athens - Newly promoted AEK Athens of Greece striker Macauley Chrisantus says he hopes to end the upcoming Greek season as top scorer in the division.

His statement came amidst rumours he is about to be offloaded by the team, a report he heavily denied insisting he is set to stay at the team and wants to be top scorer in the league.

"I honestly don't know where those reports came from but I am not being forced out of AEK Athens and neither am I leaving the team anytime soon," he told News24.

"My immediate aim is to finish as top scorer and help my team finish very well on the table and if possible qualify for Europe and I hope to see off the initial 18 months of my contract with AEK Athens before we talk of an extension or transfer."

The Korea 2007 U17 golden and silver boot winner joined AEK in January after terminating his deal with Sivasspor of Turkey and last season scored six times to help them gain promotion to the Greek top flight.
