Cologne fined for crowd trouble

12 March 2015, 19:00

Berlin - Bundesliga club Cologne have been ordered to play three matches partially behind closed doors and fined 200,000 euros ($212,000) for crowd trouble, the German Football Federation (DFB) announced on Thursday.

Police made two arrests after a 30-strong group of well-organised Cologne fans dressed all in white stormed on to the pitch after their team's last-minute Bundesliga defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach last month.

Cologne fans also caused trouble at a German Cup tie against Duisburg last October.

The match restrictions concern games against Hoffenheim on April 12, Leverkusen on April 26 and Schalke in May.

The DFB have also ordered the club to issue personalised tickets, and to forbid any ticket swapping, for all away games.

Promoted Cologne, who are 11th in the German league, travel to Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
