Lagos - Newly promoted Crown Football Club have received a cash boost ahead of the new season of the Nigerian Premier League.
The management of Nest Hotel in Ogbomoso cashed out N1 million to the club at a grand reception on Sunday to celebrate their promotion.
This is in fulfilment of the promise made by the chairman of the hotel, Colonel Ahmed Taiwo, a press release made available to News24 Nigeria said.
The Nest Hotel previously fixed the dressing rooms and other issues at the Soun Stadium to ready it for the 2012/2013 season and to encourage the Ajilete boys to gain promotion, Colonel Taiwo promised to donate N1 million to the club.
The club claimed 2nd spot on the table with 44 points behind leaders Abia Warriors, who finished on 45 points.
In his speech at the reception, Colonel Taiwo thanked the management, players and the technical crew of the club for helping Crown Football reclaim its spot in "Nigeria's football hall of fame" and promised that outstanding performance in the coming season will bring even more rewards for the team.
He also promised to partner with government to ready Ogbomoso Stadium for television broadcasting within a short time frame.
In his response the chairman of the club, Alhaji Noah Bello, thanked the Nest Hotel and Colonel Taiwo for fulfilling his promise.
Bello also promised that Crown FC would not disappoint in the coming season.
