Daniel Chima celebrates win over Aaron Samuel's Guangzhou R&F

14 September 2015, 16:03

Seoul - Daniel Chima has declared that he was confident that Shanghai Shenxin will emerge victorious before their game against Guangzhou R&F on Sunday in the Chinese Super League.

The friendship between Chima and Super Eagles striker Aaron Samuel was put aside before the game at Jinshan Soccer Stadium, and it was the former who had the last laugh after scoring his ninth and tenth goal of the season as Shanghai Shenxin ran out 2-1 winners.

''We defeated Guangzhou R&F in the first round away from home, so before we played the game I had this belief that we will beat them again,'' said Daniel Chima to news24.

''When it was 1-1, we scored but it was disallowed by the referee, but we had to keep attacking as we were determined to get a win and luckily for us we got the win.

''It was a good feeling when I scored. I didn't know how to celebrate, if to run to the coach or the crowd so I stopped in the middle.''

The Shanghai Shenxin number 27 added: '' Aaron called me before the game, I told him we'll meet at the game and we were together in the dressing room before the game started.

''He jokingly told me to take things easy on his team. After the game I went to his hotel to have a chat with him.''

With five fixtures left in the Super League, Shanghai Shenxin remain bottom of the standings with 17 points from 25 matches.
