Lagos - The Super Eagles have expressed their appreciation to
President Goodluck Jonathan for his support for the team since the start of the
The team said that President Jonathan has been their
number one supporter in the run-up to a splendid display at the Nations Cup in
South Africa in and a smooth run through the World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking through stand-in skipper Vincent Enyeama, the team also heaped praises on the Aminu Maigari-led Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF), whose leadership and management has been of an exceptional standard.
They did not leave out the National Sports
Commission leadership of Hon. Bolaji Abdulahi, which Enyeama noted has been
directing the NFF in the right direction.
Speaking in London, the team noted that but for the support
of relevant government agencies starting from the President, the team would not
have gone far in qualifying.
He then reminded Jonathan and Senate President David Mark of their promise to boost the team
after qualification for the World Cup.
“We know that they are very busy officials who will in no
time make good of their promise to ensure that the team is boosted and well
prepared for the World Cup in Brazil next year.
"Mr. President has been visiting
our preparatory sessions and the Senate President has been our avid supporter,
which is why we must remain focused to keep doing the nation proud”.
