Kano - Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba has commended the facilities of the Kano Sport Institute (KSI) which is near completion.
Garba led the Golden Eaglets team on Tuesday to visit the
sprawling building located in Karfi under Kura LGA of the state.
“This Kano Sports Institute is a mini Aspire in the
making," coach Manu said while comparing thebuilding to the massive Aspire
Academy of Sports Excellency in Doha, Qatar.
"This is money well-spent for sports development and we
want to commend Governor Musa Kwankwaso for a job well done."
Mallam Gara Gombe, Special Adviser to Kano State Governor
who led the delegation to the institute site on the outskirts of Kano City,
said it was about 90& complete with almost all the facilities at the
ready. The KSI is the first of its kind being undertaking by a state government
with several facilities for sports already being put in place.
Gombe added that the target of the KSI is to be the first
Sports University in Africa in the foreseeable future, saying the state is
committed to the project.
In a related development, the Golden Eaglets also visited
the Kofarnaisa Ultra Modern Sports Complex located in Sharada Area within the
Though still under construction, Gombe said the site would
accommodated 21 sports with 11 football pitches earmarked as well as facilities
for sport science centre and theatre.
