Paris - Nigeria international Elderson Echiejile, who missed
the 2014 World Cup due to a hamstring injury, is expected to return to the fray
Echiejile sustained the injury during a warm-up fixture
against Greece earlier this year. However, he is confident that he will recover
in time to compete for Monaco in the French Ligue 1.
"First training session with my team #ASMONACO. Amazing
feeling, good to be back with the boys. #Happy," said Echiejile via his
official Twitter feed on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Nigerian defender agreed to a
four-and-half-year deal with Monaco in January 2014 and has made five starting
appearances for the club since then. The expectation is that he will make a
meaningful contribution to the squad as his career progresses.
Echiejile has been capped 40 times by Nigeria at senior
level and has scored twice for the Super Eagles since making his debut in 2009.
