El Kanemi vs Abia Warriors tie holds March 26

18 March 2014, 10:53

Abuja - The League Management Company (LMC) has announced Wednesday, March 26 as new date for the postponed Glo Nigerian Premier League Matchday 2 fixture between El-Kanemi Warriors and Abia Warriors.

Salihu Abubakar, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, said in a statement that the match would also be played at the Kano Pillars Stadium in Kano.

He said Kano would now host the home fixtures of the Maiduguri-based side until further notice.

The LMC had late last week suspended all Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches in Maiduguri over security concerns.

“In the light of developments in Maiduguri and adjoining cities, we had to suspend all fixtures in the Maiduguri town and we have moved El-Kanemi Warriors FC home fixtures for now to Kano,’’ Abubakar said in the statement.

He said the match against Abia Warriors would kick off at 4.15 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, the LMC has also announced that in Matchday 3 fixtures, Heartland FC will host Sharks FC of Port Harcourt in Owerri on March 21 in a Friday Star Match.
