Emmanuel Amuneke to coach Charlton Athletic's Ogbebor-Onaiwu

22 June 2015, 10:13

Abuja - Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu has been invited to train with Nigeria's Under 17 national team, the Golden Eaglets.

The English Football Association was in the running to cap the former Crystal Palace youth teamer, having invited him for a national team get together at St Georges Park, Burton two months ago.

But the 14 year old had already made up his mind that he wanted to represent the world champions at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup to be hosted by Chile.

''Charlton Athletic's Under 15 goalkeeper will be in Nigeria next month to meet up with Nigeria's Under 17 team,'' a source told news24.com.

The shot stopper has been on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation, and Dream Team VI coach, Samson Siasia, was expected to run the rule over him last March but club duties prevented him from making the trip to Abuja.

Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu's playing style has drawn comparisons to Super Eagles number one Vincent Enyeama.
