Emordi denies sack rumours

14 July 2015, 12:51

Kano - Kano Pillars coach Okey Emordi has rubbished reports he is about to be fired by the club over their recent poor run of form.

The defending league champions are currently ninth on the league table with 25 points after 17 round of matches and are out of the Federation Cup, a development which fueled speculations he is about to the get the boot.

The 2004 CAF Champions league winner says such reports are not correct.

“I really wonder where people get such stories from,” Emordi said.

“These things are not correct. I know it hasn’t been the best time for us in the league, but we have only played 17 games and you need to check the difference between us and the team that currently leads.

“You will notice that the gap isn’t very much and it is something we can always recover from, but I don’t know where some people get the story that Okey Emordi will be sacked.

“The club hasn’t said anything of such to me so why should I be concerned about what people outside are saying?

“We just need to focus on the league now and ensure we retain our title,” he concluded.
