Enugu Rangers suspend coach Emeteole

Lagos - The management of Enugu Rangers on Wednesday asked technical adviser Kelechi Emeteole to step aside for awhile, Supersport reports.

The decision is the fallout of a two-day meeting between the management and coaching crew of the Coal City side.

Former Sharks and Enyimba coach Imama Amapakabo, who is the chief coach, has been asked to take charge of the side in the absence of head coach Emeteole.

An official statement made available to supersport.com and signed by the director of media, Foster Chime, said the management decision takes effect on Wednesday, May 27.

The official statement reads in part, “management of Rangers FC of Enugu after a joint meeting on Tuesday with the technical crew directed the team’s technical adviser, Kelechi Emeteole to step aside till further notice with effect from 27th May 2015.

“The directive became necessary due to the continuous swift decline in the performance of the team since the commencement of the season.

“Chief coach Imama Amapakabo has been appointed to take full charge of the technical crew till further notice,” said Chime.

The six-time Nigerian champions are 12th on the 20-team elite league log on 11 points from possible 30 in the 10-week old top flight.

The Flying Antelopes will be the guests of newcomers Kwara United in Glo Premier League match day 11 clash in llorin upon the restart of the season on June 14.
