Enyimba defender shrugs off pressure ahead of league tie

18 September 2015, 17:16

Aba - Enyimba defender Ifeanyi Anaemena has dismissed talk of them being under pressure as the 2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season hits it closing stages.

The People's Elephants remain top of the log after their 2-0 win over struggling Dolphins at the Aba Township Stadium last weekend, four points ahead of their closest rivals, Warri Wolves.

And Anaemena, who came off the bench to score the winner for Enyimba on Sunday has shrugged off suggestions they will be under pressure going into the last set of games.

"Being on top does not add any pressure on us," he told npfl.ng. "We have always had the target of winning the league and we know that in the process, we may lose some games but we are very focused and enjoying the position we are in," he added.

The former Giwa of Jos defender also spoke about his winner against Dolphins, and says he will keep contributing his best to his team.

"I thank God, it's a privilege for me to be a substitute in the team and with the type of conditions we found ourselves. I believed I would contribute well when I get onto the pitch and I am happy to have proved (to be) a good team member," he added.
