FIFA instructor restates commitment to sports development

03 February 2014, 11:57

Abuja - A FIFA Instructor, Emmanuel Obafemi, on Sunday in Ilorin restated his commitment to identify with programmes that would develop sports in the country.

Obafemi made the promise while presenting a 32 inch Plasma Television, a DSTV decoder and an electricity generator to the Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

The FIFA badge referee, who has been appointed the registrar of the University of Ilorin, said the donation was necessary to make the association live up to the challenges in sports coverage.

He described Kwara SWAN as one of the best in the country and pledged his continued partnership with the body.

Responding, Bunmi Adedoyin, the chairman of the chapter, promised that the association would not compromise in the course of their duties, adding that professionalism would continue to be their watchword.

Adedoyin announced that Obafemi had been appointed the grand patron of the association, adding that a letter would be sent to him to that effect.

Also speaking, Dare Akanbi, the Legal Adviser to the Registrar, thanked Kwara SWAN for their objective reportage of sports in the state and urged them to maintain the standard.

He said the registrar loves sports and would constantly identify with programmes that would move sports forward.
