Abuja - The Falconets will now depart Abuja for Canada ahead
of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The team earlier scheduled to travel on July 7 for a 24 day
training, failed to make the trip following the suspension slammed on Nigeria
Football Federation by FIFA.
It would be recalled that NFF media officer sent a press
statement claiming “a delegation of 24 players and 11 officials, led by NFF
Chief Technical Officer, Siji Lagunju, flew aboard a Lufthansa Airline from
Abuja to Frankfurt, from where it would connect another flight to Moncton,
The report turned out to be untrue, but the team is now
expected to depart for Moncton, Canada through Frankfurt in two batches aboard
Lufthansa Airlines flight on Thursday and Friday, from Abuja.
The 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup holds in
Canada between August 5 and 24.
