Abuja - Bayelsa United striker Benard Ovoke has told News24 that he is delighted to have scored his first-ever hat-trick since he turned professional.

The tricky forward scored three goals as the Restoration Boys completely destroyed Elkanemi Warriors 4-1 in a match-day 29 Nigeria Professional Football League game at the Oghara Township Stadium on Saturday.

Ovoke who wasn't a regular fixture for the strugglers in the first round of matches due to series of injuries expressed his delight at the treble he grabbed against the Borno Army.

“I feel so happy and excited to score a hat-trick, that is the first time I will get three goals since I turned professional. I am so delighted with this and I look forward to more of such,” Ovoke told News24 via telephone conversation.

“It was a great way to announce my qualities to followers of the league, getting a hat-trick and hopefully more will follow.

“I thank God for his blessing. I dedicate my first three goals of the season to my Almighty Father in heaven. My dream is to help my team retain their NPFL status at the end of the season,” he continued.

“We are at the foot of the able now, all hope is not lost, anything can happen,” Ovoke added with a smile
