Lagos – Remo Stars coach Shola Adewuyi was impressed
with the performance of his lads after they managed a 1-0 victory over Ekiti
United in the Nigerian National League.
A rigorous defensive play from Ekiti United, coupled with
some missed chances, presented a tense evening for the Sky Blue Stars as they
had to leave it to the dying seconds of the game to secure maximum points
through the boots of Samson Paul.
The victory is the first for Remo Stars after two draws in
their first two games, a development that must put Adewuyi on cloud nine.
"I am very pleased with the result, I was confident we
were going to get the three points. It wasn't easy as our opponents made sure we
had a difficult game."
"Samson Paul has always come up with these sort of
magical moments, he also did this last season against Bolowotan FC to earn us a point - now
he has won us the game."
"We weren't converting our chances in front of goal
despite creating a lot of opportunities and that's something that can happen in football. We are
keen to address this issue before our next league game."
Remo Stars travel down to Nnewi to take on Gabros in their
next fixture of the Nigeria National League.
