Abuja - Nigeria U20 team defeated Abuja Football College 3-0
in a test match played at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Flying Eagles took the lead as early as the third minute
through team leading scorer Alhassan Ibrahim aka Muazam, when he fired home
from a very tight angle.
Thereafter there were also chances for Kelechi Iheanacho,
Sulaiman Abdullahi and Abdullahi Alfa, but they failed to take it.
Two minutes from half time, Ifeanyi Matthew doubled the
Flying Eagles advantage when he picked his spot and fired home a low shot from
outside the goal area.
After the interval, Abuja College piled on the pressure to
reduce the deficit but the Flying Eagles defence led by Wilfred Ndidi held out.
Ndidi will score a third goal for the Nigeria U20s in the
63rd minute when he drove through the opposing defence before he shot his
Midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew was sent off in the 74th minute
Substitute Anthony Omaka then had a chance to score a fourth
goal for the Flying Eagles in the 77th minute but he shot wide off target from
deep inside the box when it would have been much easier to score.
David Okereke then had two chances in the closing moments to
hit target for the Flying Eagles against his academy, but fired wide in the
first instance and then was denied by the goalkeeper at point-blank range
