Marseille - Marseille's Ghanaian international winger Andre Ayew requires surgery on a knee injury and will be out for around eight weeks, his club have announced.
Ayew, whose younger brother Jordan also plays for OM, suffered the torn meniscus during Ghana's 2-1 defeat in Egypt in the second leg of their World Cup qualifying play-off in Cairo on Tuesday.
He was forced off the field in the 57th minute of the match, as Ghana -- who had won 6-1 in the first leg last month -- qualified for the finals in Brazil 7-3 on aggregate.
The 23-year-old underwent tests on his return to France which confirmed the extent of the problem, and OM revealed that he is not likely to return until the end of January.
He will therefore miss Marseille's final Champions League group games against Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
