Abuja - Chris Giwa, the proprietor of Giwa FC of Jos, has said that the new entrants into the Glo Premier League will be on top of the elite league this season.
Giwa set the target on Sunday in Jos at a reception in honour of the club’s players and management.
He said that their promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season to the premier league was for the club to remain at the top and earn more laurels.
"Giwa Football Club is in the league because of the mercy of God and we will remain in it because His grace is sufficient to sustain us and keep us in the league," he said.
He appreciated the team’s players and the technical crew for their commitment and determination which earned the club promotion to the elite league.
"I thank God for giving me players and technical crew like you because your commitment took us to where we are today.
"Giwa FC did not just get the premiership ticket, they were the best team in the NNL last season."
The proprietor presented cash reward to the players and officials for their outstanding performance.
In his comment, Sunday Longbap, the chairman of the Plateau Football Association, commended the club for the feat, saying their promotion was a source of pride to all football lovers in Plateau.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the club's Anthem and presentation of the trophy by the team’s former captain, Sunday Omolade, to the chief coach, Abdullahi Biffo.
