Lagos - The new season of the Glo Nigerian Premier League will kick off on March 7, 2015.
Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) Nduka Irabor made the revelation during the annual League Bloggers Award (LBA) held on Monday night in Lagos.
Irabor explained that the reason for the choice of the date is to allow for the general elections in February among other things.
“There will be general elections, we don’t want to be struggling with space and time with politicians, so we allow them have the elections and then we kick off the new season.”
“Club are now given time to clear their backlog monies before the 2014/15 season commences.”
“The league is not yet where we want it to be. We’ve spent the past few years scratching the surface, but I know someday we’ll get there.” Irabor concluded.
Kano Pillars won the league after the concluded season to retain the trophy.
