Golden Eaglets get tips

22 September 2014, 13:36

Calabar - Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State Patrick Okon is confident that the Golden Eaglets would triumph in their upcoming African U-17 Championship qualifier against Gabon.

The Emmanuel Amuneke-tutored side suffered a 2-1 loss to Gabon penultimate Sunday in Libreville but have since intensified their training in order to turn the table against the visitors in the decisive second leg-final round qualifier billed for this weekend.

Speaking against the backdrop of his team, Akpabuyo United's 1-0 loss to National Under-17 side at the weekend, Okon said he was okay with their standard as they brace up for further challenges.

"I was really impressed with the two teams but more especially with our boys who did well despite playing against the national team," observed Okon."This team is just about eight months old and we believe this kind of exposure against a strong side like Golden Eaglets would help us."
