ATHENS - A 46-year-old Greek football fan who was attacked at a violence-plagued third division match in Crete on September 15 died in an Athens hospital on Monday.
Kostas Katsoulis, a supporter of Piraeus team Ethnikos, was attacked along with other fans by about 30 Irodotos supporters in the match played in Heraklion.
Police have arrested three people in connection with the attack.

"A young man today lost a two week battle for his life simply because he went to see his favourite team," said Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Giannis Andrianos in a statement."His death should be the last in the long line of mindless violence which has plagued sports competitions here," he added.
