Heartland earn a fortune from Pillars win

Abuja - Heartland pocketed generous earnings after beating Kano Pillars 2-0 in a Glo Premier League encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday.

Goals from Happy Okuoka and Bright Ejike ensured the Owerri-based side grabbed the three points over rivals Pillars.

Heartland chairman Fan Ndubuoke promised the team N500 000 if they scored in the first five minutes of the match and another N250 000 for every goal scored.

The state deputy governor Prince Eze Madumere also redeemed his pledge N150 000 for each goal and N300 000 for victory.

“There may not be an end to these kinds of motivations as all hands are on deck at the moment to ensure Heartland reclaim their rightful position in the league,” and official at Heartland, Cajetan Nkwopara, said.
