Hope Akpan talks up Blackburn teammates

06 October 2015, 21:38

London - Hope Akpan has reflected on Blackburn Rovers' 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town in the English Championship and believes that their season will begin to take shape if they continue to churn out such impressive performances.

Against the Tractor Boys, the defensive midfielder made manager Gary Bowyer's starting XI in the Championship for the first team since August 22, when he went the distance in Rovers' 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove.

''To a man everybody did their jobs, everyone was looking confident and playing well, we were excellent," Akpan told Radio Rovers.

"I think the first half was probably some of the best football we've played this season.

"But I believe there is more to come, we are not going to get carried away, we've had a few good results on the road and we've picked up points at home, but all it can do is give us belief that we can beat the best sides in this league.''

The Nigeria international, a summer arrival from Reading, has recorded seven appearances for Blackburn Rovers in the division, featuring four times off the bench.
