Ideye joins Olympiacos

01 September 2015, 11:18

Abuja - Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has joined Greek champions Olympiakos from English Premier League side, West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom broke their club transfer record to sign the 26-year-old Nigerian from Dynamo Kiev 12 months ago for a fee of around £10m.

The former Sochaux of France striker made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals, but his only match this season came against Port Vale in the Capital One Cup.

Ideye played for Nigeria at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, which he helped win with the Super Eagles, but has hardly gotten a look in ever since and missed out on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He will now join former Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso in Athens after the 34-year-old joined Olympiakos earlier this month.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Victor Anichebe remains at the Hawthorns and looks set to play a role for Tony Pulis' side this season.
