Ikhana: Enyimba will work hard to be NPFL champions

08 October 2015, 16:10

Aba - Chasing their seventh Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tittle, Enyimba has just more six matches between them and the league trophy.

The coach of the two time African champions, Kadiri Ikhana has stated that the end of the season is still very far from conclusion insisting that the fans may as well predict which club they think will be crowned champions, but for his club Enyimba, this is the time to work harder and maintain a 100% focus.

The six time champions of the Nigerian League have been consistent this season and with just six matches to go till the end of the season, pundits and fans have predicted that Enyimba have what it takes to be champions.

"The season is still far from conclusion. We still have six tough matches to go. This stage of the league is the toughest because it needs maximum concentration,” Ikhana old News24.

"I'm optimistic that we shall pick one more maximum point on the road before the end of this period but I just have to emphasize this fact; we have to remain focus till the end of the season. At this stage we've got teams chasing us from behind and there are teams also trying to avoid relegation, so it's a tough phase right now,” Ikahan stated.

Enyimba are three points clear at the top of the log with 58 points but closely followed by Warri Wolves with 55 points.

The People's Elephant will welcome Shooting Stars Sports Club to Aba in a week 33 NPFL tie this weekend. In the reverse fixture Enyimba forced 3SC to share the spoils at the Lekan Salami Stadium but at this stage both teams need the points as every points earned is valuable.
