Ikhana hopes for derby win

19 July 2015, 16:41

Abuja - Enyimba coach Kadiri Ikhana is eyeing up a win when his team face Enugu Rangers in an 'Oriental Derby' at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium from 4pm today.

The People's Elephants come up against the Flying Antelopes in this weekend's star game of the Nigeria Professional Football League season, knowing that a win in Enugu and a loss for Sunshine Stars will catapult them to the top of the league.

And Ikhana is hoping his players can hold their nerves to get a win at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

"It is always going to be a tough match against Rangers because as rivals it is always tougher when we play against each other.

"We returned to winning ways last weekend after we exited the Federation's Cup and hopefully we will carry on from there.

"But we are not fooling ourselves into thinking Rangers will be easy because they won't. They play at home and they are on a good run of form at the moment so we must respect them," Ikhana said.

Rangers have been on a good patch recently, following the sacking of John Obuh and the appointment of Imama Amakapabo.
