London - Ivory Coast could be without the services of striker Arouna Kona when they play Senegal in the return leg of the 2014 World Cup playoff, as he could be ruled out for the rest of the season.
The Everton forward will head for a knee surgery following a knock he sustained in the 2-1 win over Hull City in October. As a result, he has missed two games – a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa and a goalless draw with Tottenham.
Sky Sports report that manager Roberto Martinez announced the disappointing news that “Kone will need a bit of a period away."
Ivory Coast take a 3-1 lead into the return leg of the qualifier.
