Iorfa, Akpom feature as USA beat England In Toulon Tourney

Abuja -  The England Under 20’s failed to win a medal at the Toulon Tournament after losing 2 -1 to the United States Under 23’s, in the consolation game played on Sunday to determine the bronze medal winner.

The young Three Lions boss, Aidy Boothroyd, included only one Anglo - Nigerian player in his starting XI in the shape of promising Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa.

Brentford’s Moses Odubajo did not make the 18 - man squad while Chuba Akpom dropped to the bench for this one.

With the score line level at 1 - 1 , the head coach brought on the Arsenal starlet to replace Kwame Thomas (Derby County) nine minutes after the intermission.

As for the Americans, Real Salt Lake loanee Boyd Okwuonu started in defense while San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Fatai Alashe watched proceedings from the dugout.

The United States scored twice from the penalty spot through Hernandez and Joya either side of the half while Iorfa's teammate at Wolves, Kortney Hause, found the back of the net in the tenth minute.
