Jigawa Golden Stars recruiting for new season

08 November 2013, 13:35

Abuja - No fewer than one hundred players have turned up for screening for the Jigawa Golden Stars FC, an official of the team said on Thursday.

Malam Gambo Labbo, the state director for sports, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that the aim was to strengthen the team for the next season.

Labbo said that the players, who are from different states, were currently being screened by the state's sports council.

He added that at the end of the exercise, only 10 of the players would be recruited by the club.

The director stressed that the players would be merged with 15 other players retained at the end of last season.

According to him, the team, apart from the 15 players, has an additional 15 indigenous players that have been retained to make the team have about 40 players.

Labbo said that the gesture was part of the club's preparation and strategies ahead of next season's premiership league.
