Kano Pillars overpower Kwara United

04 October 2013, 08:35

Abuja - Kano Pillars Football Club on Thursday beat visiting Kwara United FC of Ilorin 2-0 in a Glo Premier League match played at the Kaduna Township Stadium.

Uche John of Kwara United scored against his own team after six minutes of the game on Wednesday, when the game first started.

But the match was disrupted by heavy rainfall, forcing the game to be called off 30 minutes into the game.

Kaduna United continued where they left off when the game resumed on Thursday, with Promise James scoring for the home side during a goalmouth scramble in the 71st minute.

Speaking shortly after the match, Kano Pillars’ head coach Abdul Maikaba said he was satisfied with the game.

He expressed the hope that his team would work hard ahead of their next match.

"My team is working hard to come out the best, as we are always known for,’’ Maikaba added

Also speaking, Samson Unanuel, the coach of Kwara United, however expressed dissatisfaction with the match’s officiating.

"The referees always apply the FIFA rules as they should be when other matches are being played. But when it comes to our matches, it turns out to be a different issue entirely,’’ he alleged.
