Keshi finally recalls Ike Uche

08 September 2014, 14:34Israel Ojoko

Cape Town - Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has finally recalled Villarreal striker Ike Uche for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

The tie is scheduled to hold on Wednesday in Cape Town.

The AFCON winning coach last week revealed that the player wanted to be begged before playing for the Super Eagles, but Uche has since denied the claim.

Keshi, who left out Uche from his original 23-man squad for both the game against Congo and South Africa, has now recalled the forward after Nigeria fell 3-2 to Congo on Saturday.

Uche is said to be replacing Uche Nwofor, as Keshi ring changes in his squad in a bid to beat South Africa.

South Africa defeated Sudan 3-0 in an away encounter to top the group after just one game.

Keshi also recalled Kalu Uche who plays in the Middle East for UAE side Al Jaish.

The Uche brothers will now join the team in Cape Town ahead of Wednesday’s crucial tie.
