Lagos - Super Eagles' head coach Stephen Keshi has dropped captain Joseph Yobo from the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) game against Venezuela on 14 November, Supersport reports.
Keshi believes his side can soldier on without the centre-back, who is recovering from a knee injury at Turkish Super League side, Fenerbahce.
The 32-year-old defender was not part of the Afcon qualifier against Liberia in Calabar last month in which Nigeria won 6-1.
Yobo has been left out alongside Osaze Odemwingie, Papa Idris and Reuben Gabriel, who was named Player of the Year in the Nigerian top flight at the 2012 League Bloggers Awards (LBA) in October.
