Lagos - Head coach of newly promoted side Kwara United Samson Unuanel has denied knowledge of losing his job with the Ilorin side.
There were reports that the club management has relieved the coaching crew led by Unuanel, and Isiaka Gambari has taken over temporarily.
But the former Ocean Boys handler said he is not aware of such development.
“I am not aware of any sack, the only thing I'm aware is that the governor will be hosting us any time soon for doing a good job (securing promotion to the NPL), he told News24 Nigeria.

“It is after the hosting that I will meet with the government because it is not the club management that gave me the job in the first place, then we can talk about the job.
“But for now, nobody is talking about sacking or contract renewal, we are still thanking God for returning the team to the premier league, any intelligent group of people should not be thinking of sacking or contract renewal right now. The first thing is to thank God.
“I am part of the management, we know the type of material we used, we know we are the youngest team in the league, and we know securing promotion was as a result of hard work.”
Unuanel joined Kwara United in 2012 and could not prevent the club from going into relegation in 2013, but the Afonja Warriors has now regained their spot in the top flight ahead of the new Glo Premier League season that kicks off in March.
Unuanel’s coaching crew includes Ali Zubair (Coach), Jimoh Balogun (Assistant Coach), Rasheed Badmus (Trainer) and Tunji Abubakar (Goalkeeper Trainer). For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page.
