Kwara United suffers injury blow ahead replay

18 December 2014, 13:08

Ilorin - Kwara United have suffered a major blow ahead of Friday's NNL replay tie with Ranchers Bees, as their influential player Alhaji Gata will not be part of the Afonja Warriors that will play the match, SuperSport reports.

Gata, 17, suffered the injury on his right knee at the team's training ground in Ilorin after being wrongly tackled by defender Isiaka Oladuntoye.

The absence of Gata would come as a serious disappointment to all the Kwara United faithful, who would have been looking forward to see him play for the Ilorin-based club on Friday in Abuja.

“I have been left out of the squad that would travel on Thursday to Abuja because of the injury I suffered in training, and it is painful that I will not be part of the team.

“I know that my teammates will definitely miss my service on Friday, but I'm sure that we would win the game and get the promotion ticket,” Gata said to supersport.com in Ilorin.

Gata joined Kwara United this term from Kwara Football Academy (KFA) and the youngster has been impressive for the Warriors, scoring ten goals in all competitions.
