Lobi’s goal scoring keeper wants more goals

22 April 2014, 14:11

Abuja - Lobi Stars goalkeeper Matthew Terkaa Melai has scored three goals thus far in the Nigeria league and he says he wishes to score more.

Currently, he is Lobi Stars' leading goal scorer and also one of the leading goal scorers in the Nigeria Premier League with three goals.

Melai had scored from the penalty spot against Gombe United and Kaduna United at home before scoring again on Sunday against Nembe City to bring his tally to three.

Lobi have so far scored five goals with lanky defender Stephen Eze and John Paul contributing a goal each to Melai's three.

The keeper has promised that anytime he is called upon to shoulder the "huge" responsibility of goal scoring, he won't fail because over time, he has developed the needed confidence.

"At the moment, I am my team's leading goal scorer and this is a thing of joy to me. So far, I have scored three goals and I want to score more. One day, it may not be from the spot again,” he said.

"I have always admired a goalkeeper like Vincent Enyeama, who knows how to convert penalties. I have been working hard to perfect my skills and I am happy with the result.”
