Washington - Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins has been named in the MLS All Star team that will face Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at Providence Park on Wednesday, August 6.
The 29-year-old will continue his partnership with Seattle Sounders team-mate Clint Dempsey, which has produced 17 goals in the current campaign.
Martins expressed his delight to have Dempsey with him in Portland for the match, where they have been picked in the MLS All-Star Fan XI, which means they get to play from the start.
"I don't really know how to explain it," the former Super Eagles striker told the MLS website in a discussion about his partnership with Dempsey.
"It's just fun playing with him. It's easy playing alongside him. I'm happy he's here on the team."
Three other Sounders players made the 23-man squad, with DeAndre Yedlin set to also start, while the pair of Osvaldo Alonso and Chad Marshall are on the bench.
