Lagos - Super Eagles forward Sunday Mba and former coach of
Enugu Rangers Okey Emordi were among recipients of the 2013 League Bloggers
Awards (LBA) held at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos on Wednesday.
The LBA, in its second edition, is held to honour
players, coaches, clubs and managers of the Glo Nigerian Premier League.
The main prizes went to Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali
who won the Player of the Season, and Emordi, who was voted the Manager of the
2012/13 NPL season.
Enugu Rangers forward Mba was named as the Best Glo Premier
League player in the National Team for helping Nigeria win the 2013 Africa Cup
For winning the league trophy, Kano Pillars won Club of the
Year while the team coach, Baba Ganaru was named Coach of the Year.
In the other categories announced at the colourful event
attended by chairman of the League Management Company Nduka Irabor among other
journalists, Japhet Opubo of Nembe City was named Best New Goalkeeper, while
the main goalkeeper award went to Femi Thomas of Enyimba.
Oghenekaro Etebo was named Rookie of the Year, and as
expected the highest goal scorer award was won by Victor Namo of Nasarawa
United, who scored 19 goals.
The Goal of the Season award was won by Brown Braye of Nembe
City, while the Fair Play Award for the 2012/2013 season was won by El-Kanemi
Warriors of Maiduguri.
In other categories, players that had contributed to the
Nigeria League in the past were not left out, as Ex-Enyimba captain Romanus
Orjinta was honoured as one of the top stars of the decade in the premier
Victor Ezeji, the multiply decorated star who played for Enyimba of Aba
last season, was named the Player of the Decade.
