Jos - Nigeria National League side, Mighty Jets FC of Jos
have recruited nine players to strengthen the team and ensure it gain promotion
to the Glo Premier League, its Chairman, Godfrey Hamza said.
Hamza told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that the
recruitment was part of the team’s preparation for the take-off of 2013/2014
Nigeria National League (NNL).
The chairman said the management discovered late last season
that some departments needed fortification, citing that it was the reason for
the latest recruitment.
“We had a challenge with the attacking force and we acquired
the services of three new strikers.Our midfield needed some fresh blood and we got two players
to strengthen the department as well."
“In the defence, we had a problem with the left full back
but we have now engaged two more defenders, one of whom is a foreigner from
Cameroon, Chifu Lionel,"he said.
According to Hamza, a goalkeeper has also been recruited to
add to the number of players in that position.
He added that as part of the club’s ongoing reforms, it had
set its target to be in the Globacom Premier League next season.
The chairman also said that a link had since been
established with agents in Europe for international transfer of players.
“We have established partnership with some agents in the
U.K. who can search for openings in clubs in Europe for our players.
“To us, we believe that this will be a big plus for Mighty
Jets as our players who play well can secure clubs at which they can ply their
The club’s Chief Coach, Bernard Ogbe, told NAN that with the
new players all positions would have alternate players.
Ogbe said that with the calibre of players on the team’s
bench, it had been their desire to gain promotion to the Premier League.
The chief coach said the team was in high spirit as they get
set to play their first NNL match against Spotlight of Katsina on February 15
at Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.
