Mikel might miss Eagles friendly games

02 October 2015, 12:11

Lagos - A close associate of Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has revealed the player might miss the Super Eagles friendly games this month.

Mikel was handed a recall to the senior Nigeria national team ahead of friendly games against Congo DR and Cameroon, after being out of the team since the ill-fated attempt to qualify for the last Africa cup of Nations.

However a childhood friend of the 28 year old told News24, in a chat that Mikel might not make the games due to family commitments.

"You know his wife has just given birth, hence he told me during a chat last week that he might skip the games to be with his newly born twins but he isn't certain yet," he told News24 on condition of anonymity.

"We were supposed to meet in Belgium during the games but we ended our conversation with not knowing if he will be in Belgium.

Mikel recently shared pictures on his instagram page announcing the birth of a set of twins, reportedly given birth to by his long term Russia girlfriend Olga.
