Lagos - The Nigeria Football Federation has insisted all
players participating in any league in the country must have insurance cover.
This means that players at the Nigeria Premier League,
Nigeria National League, Nigeria Nation-Wide League and the Nigeria Women
Football League must have insurance cover before their clubs will be eligible
to contest in the league.
In a letter from the NFF sent to the concerned clubs and
made available to News24 Nigeria,
NFF said the requirement is in line with FIFA’s guidelines for registration of
players for any competition.
“All players and officials participating at any organized football
competition must have insurance cover for the period of their engagement, as a
way of safeguarding their career/future in case of any unforeseen accident,
“Sequel to the above, the NFF has therefore directed all the
Nigeria league bodies to ensure that clubs and officials participating in their
league are insured throughout the period of their engagement and copies of such
cover be deposited in the competition department of the NFF”
