Nationwide League to commence February 20

Abuja - The Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) Board, has fixed February 20 for the commencement of its 2013/2014 football season.

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the board held on Thursday, February 6 in Abuja.

According to the communique made available to  the media on Saturday,  the board fixed dates for the three tiers of the league.

Division One would commence on  Feb. 20; Division Two on March 8,  while  Division Three would kick-off on May 5.

The congress also ``adopted all the rules and regulations governing the league."

The communique stated that clubs agreed to insure their players, but pleaded that the initial insurance fee of N200 000 be reduced.

“Congress pleaded for the reduction of the initial N200 000 insurance fee be brought down as follows: `Division One, N100 000; Division Two, N70 000 and Division Three, N50 000.”

On indemnity for match officials, congress retained the old payment of N49 500.
