News24 Glo Premier League Team of The Week 17

14 July 2015, 11:52

Lagos - News24 picks the star performers in the week 17 of the Glo Premier League.

Chidiebere Eze [Ifeanyi Uba FC]

Stopped everything thrown at him and was always well placed to deny Esosa Igbinoba and Ugochukwu Leonard. He continued his labours in the second half.

Ndifreke Effiong [Abia Warriors]

The attack minded defender netted a brace. One from open play and the other from a trade mark free kick. Was a steady influence at the back and played his part in the victory over FC Taraba.

Etim Matthew [Enugu Rangers]

Tackles, clearances, interceptions, you name them he did them. A busy afternoon for the defender who was a stalwart throughout and in a dog eat dog world he wasn't the top Rottweiler by accident. He scored the opener for the Flying Antelopes.

Lekan Gabriel [Sharks FC]

Was always at alert and made no less than 20 or so winning interventions, with several utterly vital. He read the game very well.

Valentine Nwabili [Abia Warriors]

Another classy performance from the defender who scored the first goal for Warriors. Always up for it he was a nuisance to the visitors despite the fact the he played from the back.

Christian Madu [Enugu Rangers]

Back to his brilliant best, the former Giwa FC midfielder shielded the back-four very well. He also supported the attackers when needed.

Abu Azeez [Warri Wolves]

Caused problems and grabbed a stunning strike which later turned out to be the winner. Forever pushed his team and pressed Enyimba hard.

Wasiu Jimoh [Shooting Stars]

His all-over-the-field work and precise passes left Giwa FC like a gang of Jordan Belforts on Quaaludes. Brilliant display from Wasiu.

Christian Pyagbara [Sharks FC]

As always a thoroughbred and he consistently hassled the Kwara United defence within and without. Scored a superb and richly deserved goal after dribbling past three defenders. He slipped the ball home with consummate ease.

Ibrahim Ajani [Shooting Stars]

Ajani scored twice and help set up one as he stuck out like a pair of patent leather shoes at a hoedown with his dazzling footwork. He also had a strong effort blocked and menaced throughout.

Kingsley Eduwo [Sunshine Stars]

A superb performance saw him score a goal. Continually tortured the Bayelsa United defence. His direct approach was commendable.
